I was led here this morning to read and reread this powerful prayer during a soul searching evening. We serve an awesome God! If every Christian, on this pilgrimage to glory, could honestly say these words SUSCIPE to the Lord daily, how our surrendered lives would become beacons of His Light to this dying world.
Time to meditate and pray have robbed us of the still small voice of God.Every "warrior-saint" needs a spiritual oasis like this!!

ABBA Father! Yes, the deepest meaning of that word increases our understanding of the true meaning of Daddy.
As an educator, so many children today have never experienced even having a father or, if they have, that person strikes fear or memories of abuse and neglect into their hearts. It is wonderful to see lives that have embraced the knowledge of a loving heavenly Father caring for them as a Daddy.
In losing my earthly Daddy, who I miss greatly this past year,I have been comforted over and over through song and scripture that "I AM YOUR FATHER."
Amen!

Fabulous post. It is so heartwarming to think of our Creator as Daddy:) Our Daddy was such a fine example of our Creator Daddy. He is sorely missed around here. . What a gift to us, in that the Lord saw fit to place us in the care of this precious man we called Daddy.

As Brother Paul so eloquently points out, scripture is the definitive guide for our actions and behavior as Christians. It does, however, require an ongoing state of fellowship with God in order for the Holy Spirit to properly illuminate our reading and understanding of God's word. Elmer Towns, Co-Founder of Liberty University, states it this way, speaking specifically of Christians who have unconfessed sin in their lives: "If we are not in proper relation with God, it is not realistic to think we will be able to interpret the Bible rightly."

Brother Paul's guidance toward scriptures beginning with "in Him," is truly a valuable point as well. As we seek to conform ourselves and our decisions to the likeness of Christ, what better way to seek His example than in these very verses.

Thanks, Paul. You triggered a healthy line of thought for me; I pray you contribute regularly to this Pilgrim journey.

I have found that scriptures that tell me what I have, what I am, and what I can do "IN HIM" help me navigate daily challenges. These scriptures do not set our limitations (they actually serve to expand our horizon) and allow us to meditate on the capacity that is within each of us to execute on the desires of our heart and those ordained of God.

Search for the scriptures that start with "In Him."

Outstanding analogy. In a way of giving thanks for the Holy Spirit coming along side of us during trials an difficulty, we should look for opportunities to come along side others who are hurting and struggling.

"Pilgrim, we must cultivate our capacity to communicate with and utilize the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Without the Comforter’s salutary supernatural presence we are at the mercy of the Adversary."

This is so very true. Being in tune with the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, equips us to walk more closely with Jesus, examine ourselves, and to relinquish selfishness so our "old man", our sin nature is put to death as we see to glorify our Father.

Thank you for such a fine and illustrative analogy.

Should be a great journey. It is interesting that Ignatius is offering back to God the things he would only have because God gave them to him in the first place. Seems to me this is the proper response of the Christ-follower as it relates to the gifts, talents, and abilities that God has lavished upon us.

Awesome! Now I understand the Silver Pilgrim - and to think I just thought your hair must be grey ;-) I like that the page is soothing - no bright colors that can be distracting and no pop ups - just words from the heart of a man following hard after God it sounds like. I too am a pilgrim (definition 1). I'm learning to enjoy the journey, regardless of circumstances - knowing that God can use all things together for His good - I want to be more like Him - and that is a journey that will not end and by His grace I will be continually transformed.
I too remember the first time I heard the definition of Abba - that God the Father is our Daddy. I know what that means to me - solid as a rock, strong arms, a lap to sit on, and a chest I can lay my head on and hear His heartbeat.
Congratulations on getting your blog up and going - can't say I understand how all this works, I couldn't write in the comments, but I sense that God will use you and this format to touch hearts and change lives.
